Model Upload¶
The Upload interface allows you to add new 3D models to the DeepInspect3D platform.
Upload Interface¶
The model upload page provides a simple interface with several key components:
File Selection Area¶
- Drag and drop zone: Drop files directly into the dotted area
- Choose a file: Click to browse your computer for files
- File format information: Lists supported formats below the upload zone
- Browse button: Opens your file explorer to select files
Supported Formats¶
DeepInspect3D accepts several file formats for 3D models: - OBJ (.zip format): Common 3D model format compressed in a ZIP file - 3D-TILES (.zip format): Optimized format for web visualization - PLY: Polygon File Format - LAS/LAZ: Industry standard for LiDAR point clouds
Model Information Fields¶
After selecting a file, complete these fields to properly catalog your model:
Model Name¶
- Required field
- Provide a descriptive name for your model
- Should clearly identify the structure or component
- Examples: "Bridge Span 1402 PointCloud" or "Pillar-08-Full-TexturedModel"
Resource Type¶
- Required field
- Select from two options:
- Model: A complete 3D representation of infrastructure
- Asset: A component or supplementary 3D object
Location (optional)¶
- Geographic or structural location of the model
- Helps organize models spatially
- Examples: "Napoli", "North Tower", "Central Span"
Description¶
- Detailed information about the model
- Include relevant context about what the model represents
- Note any significant features or defects
- Examples:
- "High Defect Span for further inspection - Pointcloud data"
- "Under Pass with load bearing structure"
- "Damaged Span High criticality"
Upload Process¶
- Select file: Either drag and drop or browse for your file
- Complete information: Fill in at least the required fields
- Click "Upload File": Initiate the upload process
- Wait for processing: Large files may take time to upload and process
- Verification: System will verify and optimize the model
- Completion: You'll be notified when the model is ready for viewing
File Size Considerations¶
- DeepInspect3D supports large 3D models up to several GB in size
- Larger files will take longer to upload and process
- Point cloud models typically range from 100MB to several GB
- TexturedModels vary based on complexity and texture resolution
- Upload speed depends on your internet connection
Post-Upload Processing¶
After upload, DeepInspect3D automatically: - Optimizes the model for web viewing - Generates preview thumbnails - Prepares the model for analysis - Creates a default view orientation - Indexes the model for search
Once processing is complete, your model will appear in the Models List and will be available for viewing in the Model Viewer.
