Access Control Guide¶
DeepInspect3D provides a comprehensive access control system to protect your infrastructure inspection data while enabling efficient collaboration.
Access Levels¶
There are three primary access levels in DeepInspect3D:
Access Level | Icon | Description |
---|---|---|
Public | 🟢 | Anyone with the link can view the content without logging in |
Private | 🔒 | Only you and specifically invited users can access the content |
Protected | 🔴 | Requires authentication with a DeepInspect3D account to access |
Access Control Scope¶
Access can be controlled at multiple levels:
Project-Level Access¶
- Controls who can see the entire project
- Managed through Project Sharing settings
- Applies to all content unless overridden
Model-Level Access¶
- Individual access settings for each 3D model
- Can be more restrictive than project-level settings
- Useful for sensitive components or areas
Report-Level Access¶
- Control who can view specific inspection reports
- Enable sharing reports without exposing the entire project
- Set time limits on report accessibility
User Management¶
The "Manage Users" functionality allows you to:
Add Users¶
- Invite by email address
- Set initial access level
- Add optional welcome message
User Roles¶
- Owner: Full control over the project (cannot be changed)
- Admin: Can modify project settings and manage users
- Editor: Can add, modify, and delete content
- Viewer: Can only view content without making changes
Modify Permissions¶
- Change a user's role at any time
- Restrict access to specific content
- Revoke access completely when needed
Content Selection¶
When sharing projects, you can select exactly what content is visible:
- Choose specific models to share
- Select which reports are accessible
- Control which media files can be viewed
This allows you to: - Share only non-sensitive information - Create focused views for different stakeholders - Provide only relevant content to specific users
Best Practices¶
Sensitive Infrastructure¶
For critical infrastructure or secure facilities: - Always use Private access level - Limit user invitations to necessary personnel - Enable content selection to restrict access to sensitive areas - Set expiration dates on shared links
Public Works¶
For public infrastructure projects: - Consider using Public access for general information - Use Protected access for detailed inspection data - Separate sensitive technical details from general information - Create specific report views for public consumption
Collaborative Projects¶
For multi-team inspection projects: - Use Protected access for the overall project - Assign appropriate user roles based on responsibilities - Create separate sub-projects for different teams if needed - Use content selection to focus each team on relevant components
Security Considerations¶
- All access is logged and tracked
- Failed access attempts are monitored
- Shared links can be revoked at any time
- Two-factor authentication is available for sensitive projects
- All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
